Is online gambling legal?
In many countries, yes. For example, Australia and Antigua allow online gambling and have issued licenses to online casinos. The situation in the United States is a little more complicated. The US Senate, led by Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, has been moving forward with legislation that may consider online gambling illegal -- including gambling at online casinos. How this will be enforced if it ever becomes law is unclear.

The proposed legislation does not target the individual player gambling from their home, but rather targets casino operators. Currently, all online casinos operate their servers outside the US. Most are located in the Caribbean, Australia and Europe, where online gambling licenses are available, and US law does not apply. Some online casinos are not accepting wagers from United States residents until the laws are clarified. Even so, some estimates indicate that up to 90% of online gamblers are in the US.

Once again, there is no means for the law to shut down offshore operators. And the IGPA is not interested in pursuing the actual casino visitor like yourself. We hope this puts your mind at ease and that you continue to benefit from your involvement in this very popular business.
